John Albert Patterson, Jr.

John Albert Patterson Jr. John passed away suddenly on July 4, 2015 from a stroke. He was 74.John was born August 1, 1940 to Allison Brunson Patterson and John Albert Patterson Sr. He was soon joined by two sisters, Caroline and Joan. Throughout all of life's ups and downs, his sisters were the one constant; he loved them deeply. He married Barbara Westlund in 1980 and they had one daughter: Amber. He was previously married to Nancy Dyke and together they had three daughters: Kerilynne, Tamara, and Jennifer. He loved his four daughters dearly, holding them close no matter how far he traveled. John was known for telling a story about his daughters each time he met someone new; such was the love and pride he had for each of them. John worked as a truck driver for most of his life. He enjoyed the travel and the opportunity to see new places. This job fit him well, as he was never one to sit still for long. When John stepped off his truck he could be found outside playing in the dirt and rearranging the plants. He became a Master Gardner in 2013 and took great pride in that achievement. Although John never received a college degree, he was a well read, intelligent man. John is survived in death by his wife, Barbara Westlund Patterson; his daughters; Kerilynne Heisinger, Tamara (James) Green, Jennifer (Brad) Stanford, and Amber (Scott) Morton; his sisters Caroline Patterson, Joan (Wally) Burnham; eight grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Allison. There will be a celebration of John's life held at the LDS Chapel located at 10375 South Leilani Drive in Sandy, Saturday, July 25, from 11 am to 1 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you donate to your favorite charity in his name. The family would also like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at St. Marks Hospital. They are truly angels. A guest book is available at www.aspenfh.com .
